Messori (Made In Italy)

A special hello to our male followers in today's blog entry!

I've decided to do a feature on this designer label from a friend who owns a men's clothing store on Yonge and St Clair. You Might have seen this very Chic Boutique. I suppose you're wondering in all the gin joints in all the world, what could this place be called? Bogart's Men's Wear of course. I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship. It's a Man fashion heaven. For a man who believes the problem with the world is that everyone is a few tailored suits behind, I would suggest this store.  For stylists or image consultants with male clients, Bogart's should be your jump-off point, where you can find everything your male clients, or models need and want.
As I entered this sanctuary for those more testosterone-inclined, my fingers touched and rubbed my way through these to-die-for fabrics and designs. Inspecting the wears, the tags all declared one name responsible for all this greatness. Messori went straight to the owner Pepe Bogarts and got all the information I needed.
Messori has been designing and manufacturing in Italy since 1976. His designs have been seen in many fashion magazines, and on some of our favourite celebrities.
His desire for male perfection shows in his cuts and usage of fabric and attention to details and emblishments of silver and a dash of sparkle on selected pieces. You know what they say; Less is more. Visit this store!

SFP DO SPRING IN THE CANADIAN FASHION WORLD!

Hello, Fellow Fashionadians
Now that the Holiday's are over it's time to let your mind go free and think about what you've been longing to think about since you slipped on those Knee length Michael Kors Brown Leather boots...

SPRING/SUMMER. Yes You saw right . Its just around the corner. Time to break out those open toe louboutions, Fun Fabrics, dress etc.

BUT WAIT

Hold On.

I'm not trying to burst your fashion Bubble but we have 4 months left of this thing called Winter.

It shouldn't stop you from getting into gear for our favorite seasons of the year. That's why Im Here. To give you tips on how to look and plan ahead for that soon to be fashion filled closet of yours.

Trend review I can sum up in one paragraph so you can start heading to your favorite designers, boutiques, and sample sales to find your Spring Chic Outfits!!!

After mixing and mingling with Canadians up and coming fashion designers at this years fashion week, events we've got the scoop and the looks that will make your manicured reds toes curl.

Your spring/summer Fabrics- Chouffan, Cotten, Silk, (Light) Wool, and Linen - go for comfort and class!

Let's talk Shirts/blouses- Not fitted a lot of loosely fit blouses/shirts. With Loose sleeves, and of course your choices of rouging, ruffles, and flounces. Find what works for your body! Make it flirty, not frumpy!

Dresses- Flowing looser-fit styles with either a fitted waist or the bust. Accentuate the parts of you you feel the most confident in!
.
Pants- Combintation of both tapered fit and loose fit. The looks of summer are contrasted heavily, so go for what suits you!

Last but not least we can't forget the COLORS and PATTERNS!

You have to think Abstract this season. Horizontal lines, color blocks.
Pinks, Oranges, yellows, Blues. Go Bright or Go HOME! It's the ninties, but if the ninties knew what they were doing! Mix those neons with deep rich tones to create a really zesty look for the spring and summer!

See I said one paragraph.
Remember to think of You and Your own Style the image you want people to see when you go and hit those summer events, and parties.

May the fashion be with you!

Marilyn Monroe

Today I was sent an article about Marilyn Monroe printed in the New York Times. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/07/nyregion/07monroe.html?_r=1&src=dayp

In reading the article I found inspiration from a woman who has been loved by so many and understood by so few. She was the most beautiful woman on the planet. I love her in a small way. I grew to love her as Sugar from Some Like It Hot. It's one of the only films I've actually seen her in, but I felt inspired to create a look based around her on Polyvore. Just for fun. Hope you enjoy!

Another Story About Boots

I know I've been on a bit of a rant about boots lately, but I fear that there are people who are using the wrong boots for the wrong situations, (see: me) and I hope that someone who is wondering the same things as I was a few weeks ago will stumble upon this entry and it will save them a bit of heart/wallet-ache.

SO. Where we left off, winter was well in the works of starting up here in Toronto, and I had just spent $140 on a pair of mukluks that were about as warm as wrapping your socked feet in plastic bags. I since decided to start wearing my trusty Tretorn rain boots I purchased in New York.
Overall, I recommend these boots. They are incredibly comfortable and stylish.

I was weary of wearing them out in the cold, but I have seen many people wearing the ones with thicker lining, as well as people wearing Hunter boots. I checked the INTERNET for any reviews of Tretorn's performance in winter, and found absolutely nothing... So I figured, I guess they will do until I find something else... but lo... after a week of wearing them in the cold:

So, DO NOT WEAR TRETORN BOOTS IN COLD WEATHER! As I suspected, there were several other people making the same mistake all around me. I need to start learning not to trust the masses!!!

I felt really put out. I didn't know what to do, but luckily my mom owed me a late Christmas present, so we went to the mall where I found the Sorel houndstooth boots.

The salesperson I had informed me that they are good in up to -20/-25 weather, so I got them. When I wear thin socks they are still a little cold at times, but overall I recommend them. They are comfortable for those of you who walk around a lot, and get sweaty when you're indoors and moving around, but they are your basic winter boot. They are fashionable and pretty much do their job. I like them and feel they were worth the $150, unlike the mukluks.

So hopefully this review has been at all useful to you Canadian fashionistas stuck in a foot of snow this week. I sure wish something like this was around before I wasted all that money on shitty boots! Oh well. Now it does. If you have a friend considering any of these boots or you yourself are considering them, please heed my warnings! Mukluks are no good, no matter how cute they are.

That's all for now tweeps! Stay warm & fashionable this winter!
